First Marriage Then Love 《先婚厚爱》Chapter 67 Translation

067. Night ferry

The night scene wouldn't be considered beautiful. There weren’t many stars, and there was merely a half-moon hanging in the sky, giving a little illumination to the silent night sky. Tonight there was a breeze, gently blowing, not cold, but rather comfortable.

An Ran was standing in front of the hotel entrance, staring at Su Yi Cheng, not saying anything, but she was wearing a pretty smile at the corner of her mouth.

Su Yi Cheng turns to look at her, and sees that she isn’t walking. He raises his brows and asks, “What’s up?"

An Ran simply smiles. Su Yi Cheng then frowns in confusion, when suddenly she steps forward, wraps her arms around his neck, and gives him a kiss.

Su Yi Cheng was shocked, and it took a while for his spirit to return to his body. When it comes to kissing, it had always been his specialty. One arm wraps around her waist, and the other presses the back of her head, and he deepens the kiss.

When Su Yi Cheng releases her, An Ran was gasping for breath, leaning against his chest, and his mind was elsewhere. As a result of the kiss his chest also moves up and down ferociously.

The couple hug each other for a while more, until both finally calmed down. Su Yi Cheng then speaks into her ears, “Let’s go back?”

An Ran, leaning against his chest, listens to his steady heartbeat. She was especially enjoying this moment of peace.

“Wu---“

Not too far away, a ferry’s flute cries. Its lamp flickers in the middle of the night, the ferry steadily sailing in the river.

An Ran lifts her head up from Su Yi Cheng’s chest, and looks at the night ferry. She then turns to look at the man in front of her, smiles, and asks, “Let’s get on the ferry boat.”

Su Yi Cheng was taken back, but immediately smiles. He nods and says, “Alright.”

The couple sits on the ferry bench. Actually she looked like a sorry state; her hair that was fixed up before work was now messy thanks to the wind, Su Yi Cheng’s suit jacket covers her body, and the big red stain inside has gone black by now. Perhaps now it’s too late to wash it off. As for Su Yi Cheng, the wind messes up his formerly neat hair, but it lets him relax a bit. He loosens his tie, draws up his sleeve. He’s no longer looking serious as he normally does, looking more cheerful, spontaneous.

The ferry did not have a lot of people on it; only a handful of people were there. The ferry travels along the middle of the river. Turning to look at the rainbow lights, there was a feeling that was indescribable, the kind of feeling that’s not normally realized, but one that you learn from experience.

“I heard that the government is planning on building a bridge across Qingjiang River.” An Ran says, fearing that the opportunity to sit on the ferry will be fewer.

“Yeah, that’s the plan.” Su Yi Cheng nods. The construction of the bridge is necessary. Not only will it connect two neighbouring cities, but it will also drive the economic development of both cities.

An Ran nods, and looks at the ripples in the water made by the ferry. She then turns back and looks at the man beside her, calming her body, and rests her head on his shoulder. And he naturally reaches out and embraces her. All of this was done so naturally, as if they had been doing this a thousand times.

The wind caresses her face, and An Ran can hear the water running underneath the ferry. Her eyes slowly start to sink. It seemed that tonight had been a very long night. It was obvious that the night was still young, but it seemed long, and as for her, she was exhausted. She would really like a good night’s sleep.

Dazedly, An Ran’s eyes slowly starts to close, leaning on Su Yi Cheng’s chest, she sleeps at ease, a small smile sits on the corner of her mouth.

Su Yi Cheng lowers his head and looks at the lady on his chest, and a handsome smile begins to form. He gives a small shake of his head, helps her adjust into a more comfortable position, so that she can sleep a little better.

An Ran didn’t know when she had fallen asleep, and didn’t know how Su Yi Cheng had carried her home. When she had woken up again it was already the middle of the night, lying in her bedroom, the bedside light still open, while Su Yi Cheng was not present.

She dazedly gets up, still feeling very sleepy. She rubs her eyes, and yawns gracefully. She turns over, and sees that she is still wearing her evening dress. The stain on her chest is already dry, the deep black was blending into the material, and she knows for sure that she will not be able to wash this off. An Ran was a bit regretful. She hadn’t worn this dress that much, and it’s because of events like these that she had callously bought this. It wasn’t cheap, and now it’s scrap, although it’s not like she doesn’t regret it.

She sniffs at the faint smell of alcohol and opens the armoire to get some pajamas, then she goes into the washroom. When she got out of the washroom Su Yi Cheng was still not there. She thought that he might be busy in the studio, so she leaves the room with a towel in her hand, rubbing away the water in her hair. The light in the living room was still open, but there wasn’t anyone in it. There was a glass on the small coffee table. There was still half a glass of water in it.

Turning around to the direction of the studio, she pushes the door open, but was met with darkness, not even a silhouette of a person was present. This time An Ran was puzzled, her pretty eyebrows start to wrinkle. It’s already this late, where could Su Yi Cheng be?

Still wearing the puzzled face she withdraws from the studio, and was about to go back into the bedroom to call him on his cell. She was about to lock the door when she bumped into someone, and it was Su Yi Cheng who had came in. Seeing that An Ran was up confused him, then he smiled and asked, “Why are you up?”

An Ran looks at him. He was still wearing the suit from the reception, his tie dangling around his neck. The top two buttons were undone, and his sleeves were still up from before.

An Ran smiles, and asks, “Where did you go?”

Su Yi Cheng, looking exhausted, pulls on his tie, and haphazardly throws it on the sofa. He unbuttons a few more buttons, and says, “I met an acquaintance at the gate when we were coming back, so we sat down and talked for a bit. I just sent them back.”

An Ran doesn’t mind too much about it, and steps forward to take the tie the sofa. She then takes the shirt that he had taken off, and looks at his tired appearance. Somewhat worried, she says, “You should hurry and go take a bath. It’s not early anymore, and you still have to work tomorrow.”

Su Yi Cheng looks at her, stares at her for a while. He nods and smiles, turning around into the bedroom.

An Ran looks on at his disappearing figure, a small smile forms. She can feel her heart slowly changing, and feels that she genuinely likes him. That thought was a bit dumb, and perhaps it was a bit too quick. It’s only been half a month since they’ve met!

An Ran sits on the sofa, recalling everything she knows about him. Apparently it was easy to like him. He’s very remarkable, and he treats her with a lot of warmth and consideration. For this kind of man to like her, really was too easy and simple, wasn’t it?

She grins and picks up the tie and shirt, and was about to throw it in the washer. She sees the glass on the coffee table, and instinctually reaches out to take it. She gets up and was about to go to the kitchen, to wash the dishes, when a little bit of water spills out. Yet when she was about to wash the cup something surprised her.

An Ran looks at the fresh red lipstick on the glass, and forgot how to move.

So the person he ran into was a woman?

Why is a woman looking for Su Yi Cheng so late in the night? A thousand thoughts started to run through her mind, these complex emotions running through her heart.

    1. I think you should focus on one language first before jumping into a new one. I ought to learn Japanese and Mandarin at the same time to tell u the truth it was hard, "two timing' impossible when comes to language unless u don't aim to be that fluent.
