In a daze, as if she was missing the embrace, missing the warmth. The rustling background noise wasn’t loud, but it still woke up An Ran who wasn’t sleeping soundly. She opens her bleary eyes. The illumination of the room was still dim, only a few rays of the morning light snuck in through the window curtains, so it hadn’t brightened the room.
She slowly stretches her body, and turns her head, only to see, in the dusk, that Su Yi Cheng had already gotten up, standing in front of the wardrobe and changing into his work out clothes. He turns around, right in time to meet An Ran’s sleepy eyes. He was surprised, but immediately gives a soft smile, “Did I wake you up?”
An Ran doesn’t reply, but just stares at him. The sleepiness in her eyes was gradually waning. Her eyes slowly gets clearer, at the same time his silhouette was gradually becoming more and more clear. Without his suit, wearing such casual workout clothes made him brighter, with much more vitality, and made him appear much younger, as if he were a university student who had just entered society.
Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, Su Yi Cheng walks over to her. He squats in front of the bed, reaches out to feel her forehead, to make sure that she wasn’t having a fever or any other illness. He stares into her eyes, his hand follows down her forehead to stroke her face. He gives a small smile and asks, “What’s up? Do you not feel well?”
An Ran stares at him, and shakes her head. She covers his hands with her’s. People are truly weird, and habits are really a fearful thing. How long has it been, that she has already memorized his temperature, memorized the way his hands stroked her face, memorized everything about this man.
Su Yi Cheng laughs, and lowers his head to give her a light kiss on her forehead. Then he says, “Go back to sleep, it’s still early.”
“You, where you going?” An Ran asks sleepily, her eyes still fixed on him.
Su Yi Cheng chuckles and gets up, says, “I’m going on a morning run. You go sleep for a bit.” In the past at the compound he would run with his yeye everyday. This custom was drilled into him since young, so after all these years, even if he doesn’t live at the compound anymore, he would still diligently do his morning exercise as if it was an essential part of his life.
An Ran nods, and watches him as he leaves. She lies back down on the bed. Without his embrace, without his warmth, going back to sleep seemed like a difficult thing to do.
She lies on the bed for half an hour with her eyes still opened. The morning daylight was getting brighter and brighter by the minute. The originally dusky room was slowly being illuminated. An Ran rolls off the bed. Yesterday she hadn’t washed up and just went to sleep. And even though Su Yi Cheng had helped wipe her clean with a warm towel, but her body still felt a bit icky. So she went over to the armoire, grabbed a new pair of clothing and directly went into the bathroom.
When An Ran was done washing up and bathing it was still only 6 am, however the sky was already quite bright. She pulls the curtains aside, opens the windows, and opens the door to the balcony. She goes out to the balcony, feeling the warm brush of the morning wind on her face, cool and refreshing. She doesn’t know if anyone has said this before, but closing one’s eyes, standing outside on the balcony and letting the morning wind brush against one’s cheek, really is one of life’s pleasure, but also it seems to purify everything, letting one forget all their troubles.
An Ran doesn’t know if there is anyone who has said that, and she doesn’t really know if it’s actually true or not, but at this moment, with her eyes closed and standing there, she feels at peace. The refreshing and coolness also feels really nice, really comfortable.
When Su Yi Cheng was back from his run he sees An Ran busying herself in the kitchen, a pan in one hand, sautéing something, while at the side she puts in two slices of toast into the toaster. On the ceramic table she puts down a plate, adorning it with some slices that were already toasted, though some of them were slightly burnt.
Watching her bustling from behind, she wasn’t careful and scalded her finger. She jumped slightly, grabbing her ear. Seeing that, Su Yi Cheng became a fool, not batting an eyelid and leaning against the kitchen door, a smile on his face.
An Ran finally takes the ham that was cooked golden and puts it onto the plate, mixing it with the poached egg. An Ran nods her head with satisfaction. She turns around to put down the plate of breakfast onto the counter, only to meet the face that was faintly smiling. Surprised, she asks, “W-when did you come in?” He didn’t make a sound when he came in? Why didn’t she sense him at all!
Su Yi Cheng smiles, and walks over to her. He looks at the breakfast in her hands, and bursts into a big smile, says, “That looks and smells delicious.” Then he reaches out, not afraid of scalding himself, and picks out a piece of ham and drops it into his mouth. While chewing he says, “Delicious.”
An Ran watches him in a daze, his somewhat childish action. Only a while later does she finally react, mumbling, “You… Haven’t washed your hand.”
Su Yi Cheng blanks, and only finds it funny. This girl, really doesn’t know how to have fun. Thinking, he lowers his head to use his slightly oily mouth and seals it with her mouth that was still slightly open, swiftly prying her mouth open with his tongue, inviting her to dance with him.
An Ran dazedly lets him have his way kissing her. In his mouth, she can taste a little bit of ham, she can smell the perspiration on his body because of the morning exercise, and it was very strong.
Only after a while does Su Yi Cheng let go of her, and watches her incredibly flushed face that resulted from the kiss, the smile on his face was even more joyous. He lowers his head to give her a few more pecks on the lips, and says, “I’ll go wash up then.” Then he turns around and goes into the master bedroom.
An Ran stands there foolishly holding the plate of food, without spirit for a good while. When she finally recovered, Su Yi Cheng had already grabbed a change of clothes and went into the bathroom. She looks at the plate in her hands, and thinks about the kiss just then, when her face wasn’t yet flushed and wasn’t stained with oil. Her mouth couldn’t help but form a smile, a faint one; a beautiful smile.
While waiting for Su Yi Cheng to finish washing up and come out, An Ran had already finished arranging breakfast on the counter, and had even poured milk.
Su Yi Cheng walks towards the stool and sits, looks at the plate in front of him. There was a poached egg, three pieces of ham, two slices of toast, and a warm glass of milk. His sharp eyes sees that her plate only had a poached egg and toast, missing some hams. He wrinkles his brows, and asks, “You gave me all the ham?”
“I, I’m trying to lose weight.” An Ran says, lowering her head and nibbling on her toast. She drinks her milk.
His originally wrinkled brows wrinkles even more, his expression looking even more serious, “You’re already thin.” Saying that, he picks up all of the ham on his plate, and puts it onto her plate.
An Ran stares at the ham on her plate, then looks at him again. In her mind she scolded herself, ‘Fool, what you liked the most was given to you!’
Seeing her motionless, Su Yi Cheng takes a big bite of his toast, and urges her, “Come on, eat. After you finish I’m bringing you somewhere.”
“W-where are we going?” An Ran asks. Then she suddenly recalls, “Uh, I still have to go to work.”
Su Yi Cheng laughs and pats her head, “Idiot, today’s Saturday. Go to what work."
He is a very sweet and caring husband. But he is too good to be true. Is there anyone in the real life like him?
